Hi Kathy Johnson:

Professor's wife, eh? That means a PhD (Post Hole Digger, Piled Higher & Deeper, etc. 8^D). I'd be interested in knowing this expertise area.

Being an R.N., Kathy, you probably have little time as well - especially on the spread you have down there. It does take time and energy just to maintain and keep what we have. A very interesting posting at The Oil Drum does a great job in addressing system complexity and energy usage to maintain that ultimately leads to contraction/collapse. In case you haven't seen it, view it at:

http://www.theoildrum.com/node/5633

My opinion here, someone just to supply the energy to keep this going is probably par for any group - online or not. The question in any group dynamic is how to motivate people to take leadership roles (deligation of responsibility) and I see the Transitions movement being no different. Wonderful that you can do it with your time constraints - but burnout can result so be careful.

My schedule is busy so I don't have too much time to devote but as I am thinking (typing)...

The people alligned with TO have differing skill sets that should be shared around with others who are ignorant in those areas. I'm thinking about using this network to share the skills that we have so that others can come up to speed quickly. How about proposing a group that would brainstorm classes that could:
1.) Be available onLine either synchronous (AudioConference) or asynchronous (web-based).
2.) Short - say about 5 to 15 min in length
3.) Cover topics central to the Transition effort - Energy utilization, Small Scale Agriculture, Reskilling, etc...

Some ideas just for starters. Being in this type of business myself (http://www.trainwithcts.com ) I could volunteer to help on such a committee - but may not have the time for any leadership role.

Whatyathink?

I'll also send a copy of this to Les Squires to get his take on this.

Howdy Les!

Thanks for initiating the approval process on our site. I was on the west coast and missed your letter about it.

I appreciate that you are approving membership into this site but also know you are very busy. If you would like one less thing to do, please keep in mind that Constantine and I are keeping track and are committed to completing that task.

Thanks!

Best Wishes,

Kathy

Hi Les:

I don't remember if I mentioned to you over our Skype conversation about Yuguma.com This free utility can allow for presenters to share their desktops to limited attendees...perfect for using the Web to do virtual presentations.

Hey Les,

The profile question says phone numbers are going to be kept private...but they show up for all to see.

Can you help with this?
